You all seemed to like the first installment of “Car Cazar” so I thought why not make another? Well it can’t hurt, right? Anyways onward to the challenge...

There’s a man in his early twenties he’s just found out about the joy’s of Autocrossing from his friend. He doesn’t want to Autocross his daily driver !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . He also wants something RWD or AWD anyway. He’s also just read “ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ” and would like to attempt a LS swap. Despite being a overworked college student he’s manged to assemble 10 grand to do the swap. He would like a back seat for activities
The Rules
Here’s a set of rules to follow in case my writing was bad and nobody could comprehend that.
- Total Budget 10K
- Should have enough aftermarket support to preform a LS Swap
- Should be fun to drive
- Should be able to fit someone 6'4, backseat preferable
- Manual preferable but not required
- RWD or AWD
- You’ll need to find a parts car for the swap, so budget for that too
- Should be able to run in autocross, I’m not too familiar with the rules and regulations for autocross but keep in mind the whole reason for doing this was to have a fun, powerful car for Autocross

Obvious answer is E30/E36 5.0 swap. A roller is (fairly) cheap, the old Ford bits are cheap, and you can do the whole swap without any major cutting or welding (!)
Having said that, anything with a swap will be in a tough, tough autocross class. It better be the fastest, stripped out, most powerful car you can find or you’ll be hanging in the middle of the pack (PAX) every time. You’ll have a ton of fun, but don’t count on trophies. SCCA XP class is no joke.
e: side note, autocross the Civic. Nothing will make you faster than learning how to shave seconds in a slow car.

Ford Ranger or Chevy S10. Lower it, upgrade the suspension, racetruck. An LS swap with autocross in mind is fucking stupid anyways. If someone has 10 grand and wants to autocross get an NC Miata or a Saturn Sky Redline and drive it in C-street.

I can’t use the Syclone because of the LS swap, but that doesn’t mean I’m going quietly into the night.

Give it another year or two and you can probably find a BRZ or FRS for that much to run in CS.

Doesn’t he already have a back seat in the civic for activities? THIS MAKES NO SENSE.
